The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Islanders joined the Revolution with the recent installation of FieldTurf Revolution and Beynon’s BSS 300 at Dr. Jack Dugan Soccer & Track Stadium. The facility will host the new women’s soccer team that’s set to begin its inaugural campaign in 2013, as well as the school’s track and field team. FieldTurf and Beynon are part of Tarkett Sports, making this entire project fall under one company.
Beynon Sports leads the NCAA with more than 195 total surfaces, the installation at Texas A&M, Corpus Christi marks the 10th NCAA surface Beynon has installed in Texas and the 4th surface in the Southland Conference. Texas A&M Corpus Christi will now join conference rivals Southeastern University, Texas State University – San Marcos, and the University of Texas – San Antonio as the only institutions in the Southland Conference that have a track surface that enables their athletes to push their performance to their limits not only in competition, but in training as well.
“When I got here in 2000 we started talking about putting a track on campus and there were a lot of permutations but at no time did I expect it to be as lovely as this is going to be. This stadium, when it’s completed, is going to give our program a huge boost and give us a facility to practice on. From a recruiting aspect this is going to be one of the best, if not the best, stadiums in the Southland Conference.” Directory of Track and Field Shawn Flanagan.
