Athletics Canada and Beynon Sports recently renewed their strategic partnership. This collaboration reaffirms a shared commitment to elevating Canadian athletics—starting from the ground up.
Beynon Sports—by Tarkett Sports—is a world leader in track and field surfacing, and they’re known for making fast look good. Beyond the practical advantages of increasing the number of world-class tracks in Canada, the partnership is about more than sports surfaces.
“Beynon Sports is here to support communities and grow the sport,” said Iannick Di Sanza, Director of Marketing at Tarkett Sports. “Working alongside Athletics Canada to encourage participation and build world-class venues across the country is very close to us. It’s about making sure we’re helping activate the sport at every level.”
Beynon Sports is represented exclusively in Canada by Playteck Enterprises, which is proudly based in Dieppe, NB.
A Track Record of Excellence
Since the inception of their partnership, Beynon Sports through Playteck Enterprises and Athletics Canada have worked in tandem to bring high-performance facilities to athletes across the nation.
From Western University to Glenmore Athletic Park in Calgary, the results are visible—and impactful.
One standout example is the new track being installed for the 2025 Canada Games in St. John’s, Newfoundland, a facility that will meet World Athletics Class 2 certification. This will mark the third consecutive Canada Games to be hosted on a Beynon Sports surface.
“That’s going to be a world-class venue we’re exceptionally proud of,” said Di Sanza. “It’ll be a meaningful addition to the collection of elite facilities available to Canadian athletes.”
These surfaces aren’t just aesthetically pleasing—they’re athlete-approved. Each installation is guided by direct input from the people who use them most: athletes themselves.
“Our product development is driven by athletes,” said Di Sanza. “It’s all about delivering a surface that performs and provides leading safety. The power of these facilities and their impact on athletes is what fuels our innovation.”
Looking Ahead: Performance, Durability, and Community
The future of this renewed partnership promises even more innovation. Beynon is currently developing and improving their portfolio of surface textures designed to enhance durability—ensuring that facilities remain vibrant and high-performing for years to come.
From entry-level systems to the high-performance BSS 1000 and 2000 full-pour polyurethane tracks, Beynon offers options for every facility's aspirations. Whether it’s a community space or a high-performance training centre, the goal is the same: give athletes a surface that helps them thrive.
As Athletics Canada looks toward future competitions, grassroots development, and national pride, partnerships like this ensure the foundation—quite literally—is built to last.
