Beynon Sports, FieldTurf and the University of Southern California joined together to renovate Cromwell Track and Field at the Katherine B. Loker Stadium. FieldTurf installed their state-of-the-art Revolution fibered artificial turf inside of the historic Cromwell Track. Following the installation of the Revolution field by FieldTurf, Beynon then installed the industry leading all-weather BSS 2000 running track for the Trojan athletes.
USC joins more than 70 NCAA Division I teams that play and/or practice on FieldTurf, in addition to more than 100 NCAA Division I teams that train and/or compete on Beynon Sports.
The BSS 2000 is designed and manufactured for optimal competitive performance both indoors and out and is grounded by a bio-engineered force reduction layer of butyl rubber and full depth color polyurethane, ensuring athletes can train hard and run fast.
Just as competing PAC-12 schools, Washington State University, Oregon State University and the University of Washington have made the decision to install all-weather Beynon running surfaces in 2012, so has USC. In 2013 the PAC-12 has 9 of their 12 schools competing on all-weather Beynon surfaces, truly making Beynon the all-weather track of choice for the PAC-12.
With the 7,200sy IAAF certified BSS 2000 surface USC is looking to build upon Cromwell Track & Field’s storied history; in 1984 the venue was used as a training and warm-up facility for the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles in addition to numerous conference meets and championships. USC has already secured the 2013 Pac-12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships and are looking for other high profile competitions at the NCAA level.
