When Oregon State University begins training and competing in their new track and field facility, they will be utilizing a new BSS 2000 track and field surface from Beynon Sports - the same surface as their neighbors in Eugene.
The BSS 2000 track surface is grounded by a bio-engineered force reduction layer of butyl rubber and full depth color polyurethane, and provides the resilient response and maximum energy return needed for athletes to shatter records. To date the BSS 2000 athletic surface has played host to the U.S. Olympics Trials, U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Nationals and NCAA Division I Championships.
The first phase of the four phase project, which includes the new Beynon track surface, is expected to be completed by August, shortly after the conclusion of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. OSU has already secured the 2014 Pac-12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships and is looking for numerous other high profile competitions at the NCAA level.
“We are ecstatic that Oregon State University and Coach Sullivan has selected Beynon as the track surface of choice for such a momentous undertaking” Gary Logsdon, VP of Northwest Sales, Beynon Sports “The commitment shown by Oregon State University speaks volumes to the reputation that Beynon has worked so hard to earn as a company – developing athletic surfaces that allow for daily training without injury, as well as record-breaking times.”
With Oregon and Oregon State University both running on the same Beynon BSS 2000 surface it looks like their friendly natural rivalry will get a chance to grow.
