Beynon Sports Partners with University of Washington for State-of-the-Art Track and Field Stadium

Beynon Sports and the University of Washington are joining together to build a one-of-a-kind track and field venue that will help propel coach Metcalf and his Huskies to new heights.

Beynon is expected to begin the installation of the 11,000sy IAAF certified BSS 2000 track surface in August with a completion date slated for mid-September. The BSS 2000 is designed and manufactured for optimal competitive performance both indoors and out and is grounded by a bio-engineered force reduction layer of butyl rubber and full depth color polyurethane, ensuring athletes can train hard and run fast.

Building the stadium on an old landfill presented the very real risk that the track would begin to sink as the ground shifted and settled, to avoid this outcome the base will be 100% concrete, in addition there will be 177 steel pilings driven between 125 feet and 140 feet deep, each one of these pilings will be 16 inches in diameter. To further protect the integrity of the structure there will also be concrete pads attached to each piling, each concrete pad will be 6 feet by 6 feet and 18 inches thick. In addition there will be a 12 inch concrete pad on top of each piling.

The base will be built in much the same way as an overpass on a highway would be, which is apropos as the athletes will be competing at record breaking speeds once the state-of-the-art IAAF certified BSS 2000 with Hobart texture is installed.

“Beynon is thrilled to have been selected to install the state-of-art BSS 2000 at the University of Washington” Gary Logsdon, Vice-President of Sale Beynon Sports “The BSS 2000 track and field surface provides the resilient response and maximum energy return that the Huskies athletes need to shatter records”

While the Huskies had their choice of track surfacing companies for this monumental project, Beynon’s unmatched local customer service and reputation for high quality products and seamless surface made it an easy decision for coach Metcalf and the rest of the Huskies to entrust Beynon to take their present and future track stars to record breaking performances.
