Beynon Sports to Sponsor TrackTown Summer Series
EUGENE, Ore. – TrackTown USA CEO Michael Reilly is pleased to announce that Beynon Sports will be the presenting sponsor of the inaugural TrackTown Summer Series on July 29 at historic Hayward Field.
The TrackTown Summer Series will bring together four teams of drafted athletes representing the cities of Portland, San Francisco, New York and Philadelphia for a fast-paced, two-hour track and field meet to be televised live by ESPN.
“Beynon Sports is proud to partner with TrackTown USA to showcase some of America’s finest athletes at Hayward Field,” said John Beynon, President of Beynon Sports. “Hayward Field has been one of our company’s flagship projects since the year 2000.”
Besides resurfacing the Hayward Field track on multiple occasions, Beynon Sports also built the 200-meter banked oval track that was used for the USATF Indoor Championships and another international meet at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland last March. Beynon Sports’ specialized, high performance synthetic surfaces are designed for speed, competition and daily training. With over 1,500 installations, Beynon Sports is the North American leader in track and athletic surfacing.

The TrackTown Summer Series will be a four-way, team-scored competition. Each squad will have a roster of 36 athletes, split evenly between men and women. Competition at the meet features 10 men’s and 10 women’s events. One of the events is a 4-mile road race open to the public.
More than 700 athletes have registered for the TrackTown Summer Series eight-round draft on June 25. Among the top names are Matthew Centrowitz, Jenna Prandini, Christian Cantwell, Brittany Reese, Sally Pearson, Will Claye, Ben Blankenship, Shannon Rowbury, Laura Roesler and Erik Kynard. Those athletes that end up on team rosters will compete for approximately $11,000 in each event. The total purse will be $225,000, which includes a bonus for the winning team.
Although there is just a single championship meet this summer, plans call for the TrackTown Summer Series to expand to two regional meets and a championships meet in 2017, and four regionals meets and a championship meet in 2018.
