Beynon Track delivers blazing times at American River College

This year’s Sacramento Meet of Champions was held mere weeks after the completion of the new Beynon surface at American River College’s Beaver Stadium. Under a blazing sun, the track was on fire delivering impressive speed.

Rick Anderson, Head Coach for American River College’s Track and Field and Cross Country teams was thrilled with the performance of the new track during the event, and anticipates more broken records at Beaver Stadium this year. Next up, the California Community College Athletic Association Championships on May 19.

At 12 years old, ARC’s previous Beynon surface was ready for resurfacing. With the installation of the new Beynon track, everyone instantly felt the difference. “Beynon really does perform,” Coach Anderson said “We needed to have a track soft enough to train on every day - which is the majority of what you do in track - and just hard enough to be super fast.”

American River College opted for Beynon’s BSS 2000 surface - a premiere, Olympic-caliber running surface for the gorgeous facility - a 9 lane oval with 10 lanes on the home straight. Known to be as good (if not better) on race day as it is for training, this same Beynon surface is installed at many high-profile venues including the University of Southern California, Azusa Pacific University and over 300 other esteemed NCAA and elite high school facilities. The track surface not only stands up to adverse weather, but also provides the resilient response and maximum energy return for athletes to shatter records.

Coach Anderson has been California Community College Cross Country Coach of the Year multiple times over. He also received the 2011 Community College Track & Field Coach of the Year. Under Coach Anderson both the Cross Country and Track and Field teams have won numerous championship titles.

“With Beynon, we get the best of both worlds,” says Coach Anderson. “A quality track for training and an Olympic caliber track for hosting high profile championship meets . . . and it looks fantastic for graduation day!”
