Calgary Chooses Beynon for the Canadian National Track and Field Championships

Beynon is in the process of putting the finishing touches on the installation of the BSS 1000 13mm IAAF certified surface in Foothills Athletic Park for the Canadian National Track and Field Championships to be held June 22-25th 2011.

The BSS 1000 13mm is a proven system for both training and competing, in addition its bio-engineered force reduction layer integrates very fine SBR rubber with environmentally friendly polyurethane to create an impermeable shock absorbing cushion.

Not only will the surface be IAAF certified but the venue will also be IAAF Class II certified. Class II certification means all required standards are met such as receiving a satisfactory report from a qualified surveyor stating that all markings and levels are correct. In addition it means that the track surfacing has, among other things, a valid IAAF product certificate. IAAF rules dictate that international or regional competitions held under its rules must take place on tracks that have at least a current Class II Certificate.

In addition to the 2011 Canadian National Track and Field Championships Calgary has also been awarded the 2012 championships as well as the 2012 Olympic Track and Field National Team Trials, which will have national TV coverage.

“Calgary will have the venue of choice for Canadian athletes leading up to the 2012 Olympics in London and Beynon is pleased to have been selected to provide them with a track system that allows the athletes to push their performance to the limit” Drew Beynon, Chief Operating Officer Beynon Sports Surfaces.
