As the rebuilding process continues for Louisiana following the devastating hurricanes from 2005 to 2008, Cameron Parish school district and the Federal Emergency Management Agency turned to Beynon Sports Surfaces to rebuild the destroyed track surfaces for three schools.
2005-2008 saw Cameron Parish school district on the receiving end of numerous hurricanes, the last of which ended up destroying the track surfaces at Johnson Bayou and South Cameron High Schools, while the asphalt track at Hackberry High School also suffered damages. When it came to replacing the track surfaces, Cameron Parish school district wanted to go with a track company that had a great reputation for both quality and customer service.
Beynon Sports Surfaces not only met the standards and requirements of the Cameron Parish school district, but they also met the stringent standards of FEMA. One of FEMA’s objectives is to provide disaster assistance to states, communities, businesses and individuals by administering the national flood and crime insurances programs.
FEMA takes careful measures to ensure the money they allocate to the disaster victims is well spent, and, in the case of Cameron Parish school district they wanted to be certain that the new facilities would be able to service the students and community properly. After evaluating all their options FEMA and Cameron Parish school district were both so impressed with the credentials, as well as the reputation of Beynon that selecting Beynon to manufacture and install the new tracks was an easy decision. Cameron Parish also decided to upgrade the old asphalt track at Hackberry High School to the BSS 1000 so all the schools would have the same surface.
