“Outstanding Outdoor Track & Field Facility of the Year” Anchors Long Beach Invitational

April 14, 2016 Long Beach, CA - With the 2016 Long Beach Invitational fast approaching, Long Beach State University is anxiously prepping their recently renovated, multi-million dollar track facility; now regarded as a premier venue in the U.S.

The facility is so unique, that it received “Outstanding Outdoor Track & Field Facility-of-the-Year” Award from the ASBA (American Sports Builders Association) Awards.

“We now have a showcase facility that we are very proud of and can rest easy knowing that the product is backed by a great team of employees at Beynon Sports Surfacing,” shares Andy Sythe, Director of Track and Field for Long Beach State.

Named after long-time 49er track & field coach, Jack Rose, the Jack Rose Track features a 400-meter all-weather track and runways and grass turf throughout the infield.

The stadium boasts seating for 5,000 spectators and allows for additional team and student seating. This redesign completes the vision of a national-class facility that plays host to major invitational meets as well as NCAA and U.S. Track & Field championships.

The stadium track offers Long Beach State student-athletes a world-class home to train and compete on. The state-of-the-art competition areas feature a 9-lane track that is NCAA, USATF and IAAF certified. The desirable European oval design offers wide radius turns with 48" lanes. The shorter straightaway creates a longer, smoother curve than the typical 100 meter-by-100 meter configuration – giving this facility the reputation as one the fastest tracks in the United States, if not the world. The facility will become one of the only IAAF Class certified track and field complexes in the U.S.

The University selected Beynon's BSS 1000 ML system. As a full pour system, the BSS 1000ML provides the key competitive advantage of providing a chemical bond to the substrate which ensures the surface’s long-term durability and decreased lifecycle costs all while providing a high-performance surface. The track oval was poured in light grey and field event areas in dark grey.

"We set the bar high for our facility project,” states Sythe. “Going in, we were very familiar with the great performance and reputation of the Beynon product, still, the performance and customer service we have received from the installer, striper and management at Beynon exceeds anything we have experienced in the industry. They made absolutely sure we were getting everything we wanted and addressed every item down to the smallest detail, finishing on time.”
