Records Continue to Fall on Beynon Tracks

The 2012 Great Lake Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships proved not only to be a huge success for the Grand Valley State track teams, where both the men’s and women’s teams laid claim to the NCAA Division II GLIAC Outdoor titles in dominating fashion, but also for the state-of-the-art Laker Blue BSS 1000 track surface installed in late 2011.

The athletes competing on the BSS 1000 by Beynon Sports produced an astounding 168 NCAA Division II marks, with 103 of those marks moving the athletes up the list for automatic qualification into the NCAA Division II Championships.

On the men’s side there were 67 provisional NCAA Division II marks, four (4) automatic NCAA Division II marks and two (2) GLIAC meet records in the 400m and 4x100m relays. The women fared even better while running on the bio-engineered BSS 1000 with 80 provisional NCAA Division II marks, 17 automatic NCAA Division II marks, and eight (8) GLIAC meet records in the 1,500m, 5,000m, 100m Hurdles, 4x100m, 4x400m, Triple Jump, Discus, and the Heptathlon.

“We have come to find that the Laker Blue Beynon track that was finished in November is producing some of the fastest times in the mid west and across the country” Jerry Baltes, Cross Country and Track & Field Head Coach Grand Valley State University “We are excited for what the future holds for GV track and field and hosting high caliber track and field meets on the Beynon surface”

Available at a thickness of 10mm and IAAF certified at 13mm the BSS 1000 is guaranteed by an industry leading warranty and can be found at most NCAA track and field facilities across the United States.
