Texas Tech and Beynon Set New Benchmark for Indoor Track Facilities in Texas

Beynon is back in Lubbock, Texas! After resurfacing Texas Tech’s outdoor track surface last fall, Beynon Sports has been chosen once again by Texas Tech. This time for the installation of TTU’s 200-meter banked track at the newly constructed Sports Performance Center.

The new indoor facility, which is scheduled to be completed by August 2017, will enable Texas Tech to host championship-level events, including the Big 12 Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships.

The complex will also house an indoor football practice field, strength and conditioning center, equipment facilities and a sports medicine and nutrition center that will support all 17 varsity sports. The track and football field will be separated by a unique removable wall that allows for maximum use of both areas, particularly when hosting a track and field event.

The excitement around the opening of the center is felt by both Beynon and Texas Tech: “This building is first class! It will look stunning. We are proud to partner with Texas Tech to make this a reality,” said John Beynon, President of Beynon Sports.

Finding the new outdoor track to be much better to train on and easier on the athletes than their prior surface, the move to a Beynon indoor track made good sense.

“Athletes used to complain about injuries,” shared Wes Kittley, Head Coach for Track and Field. “99% of what you do is training, if you can’t get to competition day because you’re injured, what’s the point?”

Beynon Sports prides itself on providing excellent products to Texas Tech, and in its true partnership with the coaches, the school and the athletes.

“While the track is no doubt a phenomenal product, what it came down to is the relationships. With Beynon, it was overwhelming that they wanted a relationship with me and with our school. We feel like we have a partner. They didn't want to just sell to us; Beynon made us feel special," Kittley said.

Beynon looks forward to unveiling a choice Hobart Textured BSS 1000 track in Texas Tech colors of black and red. The complex will also serve the community by hosting numerous high school indoor track and field meets.

"We love the product and LOVE the people who are taking care of us. My administration felt Beynon was honest with us and wanted to partner with us." said Kittley.
