Part of a major facilities transformation program, the University of North Carolina recently invested in their track & field program with the addition of a new dedicated outdoor complex.
“I am truly excited about the completion of our new outdoor track. The Carolina Blue and Navy Beynon surface is absolutely beautiful. Once again Beynon has delivered above our expectations. The surfaces promises to be one of the fastest on the east coast.” said Harlis Meaders, Head Coach and Director of UNC Track & Field. “We are anxious to both practice and host elite level competitions. It is only fitting that as one of the best universities in the world that we should have should have a world-class outdoor track. Thanks to Beynon and everyone that has contributed thus far to make this possible.”
Designed to showcase their iconic Carolina Blue and alternating color exchanges zones, the Tar Heels’ new surface will rank amongst the Nation’s most unique.
THE BEYNON DIFFERENCE
Manufactured and installed with high attention to detail, Beynon systems showcase proven durability without sacrificing performance. Numerous Beynon surfaces have seen over 20 years of use.
“We’re honored to partner with UNC on their new complex.” said John Beynon, President of Beynon Sports. “It’s a privilege to bring these facilities to life and contribute to the legacy of this elite institution. It’s an exciting time for the Tar Heels.”
With over 4000 installations in North America, Beynon is the trusted surface of leading track and field programs.
PERFORMANCE SERIES
UNC officials opted for the Olympic-caliber BSS 2000 system which features a force-reduction layer of high performance butyl rubber and full-depth color polyurethane. The track is finished with Beynon’s exclusive Hobart surface texture giving athletes the necessary traction for improved response times and total control.
The system is built for the best that are looking for the best. As a leading training and competition surface, the BSS 2000 has been the surface of the 2008, 2012 & 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials (University of Oregon - Hayward Field), the NCAA Division I Championships 2013-2018 (University of Oregon - Hayward Field) and the 2019 & 2020 NCAA Division I Championships (University of Texas).
Beynon is currently the surface of choice for 10 of the 15 programs in the ACC: North Carolina, Clemson, Duke, Florida State, Louisville, Miami, Virginia, Wake Forest, NC State and Syracuse.
